Exam by age 7
The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that a child receive his or her first orthodontic screening by age 7. Because a young child's permanent teeth have not finished erupting, we are able to thoroughly evaluate and address any impending problems at the earliest stage. Each case is different and many times the best course of action is to recall for following growth and development, but some situations may require immediate attention.
